Paris FW Photo Diary

Hanna Kovanen

Hedi Slimane’s first showing at CÈLINE was a hot topic in Paris, and I don’t wonder why! I wasn’t expecting Hedi to remain respectful to Phoebe Philo’s legacy as the two designers have very different approaches, but as Lou Stoppard put it: ”a big fuck you to woman who just wanted something non-demeaning to wear”. And I was still quite surprised how poorly Hedi reflected the current moment.

The atmosphere at CÈLINE stores was mournful. It felt like a funeral and many chic women wear swiping their cards. Again, I don’t wonder why!

Eyeing two (or more) very chic pairs of shoes at CÈLINE. Had I had the finances to invest right now, I would have brought either one of these gems home. Oh Phoebe how much will I miss your point of view…

Some Swedish labels shared a showroom at the Institut Suédois, a Swedish cultural centre in Paris, where I got to meet Josephine Dahlin. She is the designer behind DEITAS, a go-to label of mine.

It was one of those magical moments meeting her because we have been discussing in private behind the scenes and I have interviewed her for the blog as well as for STYLEBY (read the interview here). I am so looking forward to wearing the beautiful SS19 collection – I want it all!

Another personal highlight of mine was a visit to L’Hotel which one of the oldest luxury hotels in Paris. There I was introduced to the latest collection by Sophie Bille Brahe and I got to try on the jewellery.

That was a dream come true because, as you might know, Sophie Bille Brahe is my favourite jewellery label. An invite to see the collection was the reason why I decided to travel to Paris.

Sunset in Paris through my Uber’s window.

My schedule was surprisingly hectic – many showrooms and shows, and I wanted to make time for seeing friends and visit a few stores. Therefore a few taxi drives where a must, but it was a lovely way to get a glimpse of the beautiful city whilst having very little time.
