I am currently on my well-deserved summer holiday. No travel plans this time around but I have been re-organising my life, sort of. For instance, I have been going through old photos (and deleting the unnecessary ones). This is just a quick selection of favorite images.

Moon Juice SuperYou

Hanna Kovanen

Most of my foreign friends would be familiar with Moon Juice, the cult US supplement brand by Amanda Chantal Bacon, but my Finnish friends probably not so much.

I got recommended their SuperYou while in New York before Covid (do you still remember that time?) as I was going through a pretty difficult time in my life. I never bought it back then, but I came across this tiny little bottle in Sydney in early January. In Australia they have got lots of great brands we don’t have here, let me tell you, such as Goops, Emma Lewisham, Drunk Elephant for starters. Well, I bought SuperYou and I have been so happy with it.

I am not that big on taking supplements apart from making sure I get my daily greens and magnesium, instead I try to eat a balanced diet. Or some people might say otherwise, hah. But SuperYou is all natural, responsibly sourced and the active ingredients are Shatavari, Ashwagandha, Amla and Rhodiola. Lets just say that, in my opinion, this stuff takes the edge off. I am kind of worried that my tiny little bottle is almost empty.

Proenza!

Hanna Kovanen

Since I am back here, let us get to the bottom of it. Have I been shopping? Well, yes I have. I got this Proenza Schouler number (the tie-dye shirt beneath) a few months ago and it has become my most worn piece of clothing. The shirt I am wearing on top is Totéme, their classic style, and I wear it all the time too. However, that is pretty much it as far as shopping goes. I got a pair of The Row shoes from the sales, which I had been eyeing for five months. Thankfully learned not to visit the high street every week for a quick fix during my first degree in Edinburgh.

Hi all! Just letting you that after a lot of hard work (full-time job and university - just don’t do it, period) comes the play. And they play in this case means these pants from The Row. I set my eyes on them the second I saw The Row’s outstanding Spring 2021 collection. I know some people over at Sourcewhere, an upcoming sourcing site for sold out items, and they helped me out. I am not sure, if you can see the site yet because I am one of their beta testers, but just wait a week or two. It is brilliant!

Summer

Way Bakery.

Way Bakery.

Too long no see! I have had great but god damn busy summer; I have worked more than ever before. That is because I have been saving up for the life after covid aka travel. My brother is on the Faroe Islands as we speak and I could not be more jealous. Thankfully, I got injected my second shot of Pfizer two week ago so I am good to go!

Anyway, here comes a random selection of images I have taken lately. This is not a very sartorially orientated entry, even though I am fully aware that this platform is strictly focused on aesthetics and my love for good clothes is still there. It is just that the world is changing around me, slowing down I guess, and I have changed as well. So bare with me. More life and a littles less fuss.

As you might has read between the lines, shopping has not been the busiest past-time. This is the only pair of shoes I have got this year. Good for me.

Céline Earrings

Hanna Kovanen

I recently purchased these Céline earrings (from the Phoebe Phile era) at Vestiaire Collective and gosh they are beautiful. I was quite blown away when they arrived! I have been literally dancing on around the house and wearing them, as that is my idea of lockdown entertainment. Anyway, I had been eyeing this pair for so long and finally the price point was fair. I really enjoy wearing jewellery everyday because it adds such a personal touch.

New Apartment

Thank god I can end this year on a high note. I am about to move into a new (rental) apartment, which I will share with an old friend. This is really the first nice (like really damn nice!!!) flat I have ever lived in, even though all of them have been pretty decent. Quite naturally I have now got an urge to invest in some pieces of decor… which is a novelty.

Without the pandemic my life would look very different on the other side of the world, but this pretty good too!

I was deleting some images from my iPhone when I came across these images from my Aussie adventure earlier this year. Before the pandemic, obviously. All of these are from the area near Margaret River. It is a nice lifestyle over there and the locals were such nice people. I think I might even prefer the West Coast…

Vivanterre

Turns out we are still living the pandemic life and that means alcohol consumption is OK at any time of the day. It also turns out alcohol is a pandemic-proof business as sales have not declined. Well, I am a wino and there is a new wine which flirts with the fashion world (and that obviously translates into ridiculously chic branding).

Rosie and Max Assoulin (Rosie is the brilliant New York based designer) have entered the wine business with their natural label Vivanterre. The wine is made in the Auvergne region of France by Patrick Bouju and Justine Loiseau using sustainable practices.

Sadly, only my friends in the US can order Vivanterre online. But I would suggest Let me or Bioviini to take note! I would love to try this one and apparently it is good!

Checking in to post a couple of pictures. My (corona) life has not been particularly interesting of late; I see friends whenever that is possible and try to squeeze in a pilates class or two every week. In the picture above, you can see the Sanville blouse from Totême, which is the only garment I have bought since last spring. In the perfect world, I’d wear it with those lovely Sophie Bille Brahe earrings (I am saving up for a pair). Also my hair is starting to look more and more brunette and I love it.

This piccie is from Way - one of the nicest wine bars in Helsinki. That is where I’d usually go for a glass of wine. Plein is another favorite.

Sugar Interview

I find I am better at interviewing others than talking about myself, but sometimes the latter can also be very therapeutic. I was asked by a Helsinki based PR agency, Sugar, to partake in an interview series, which celebrates more sustainable choices. They asked me about my life in lockdown, favorite vegan recipes, skincare and better fashion choices.

You can read the interview here.

This image is from one of my favorite Sydney restaurants - Peppe’s at Bondi - and they serve the best natural wine. Uuhh those were the days…
